Our Story

Since 1936 we have served the West Coast with products and services for commercial printers and businesses. Building on our rich family history and always with a collaborative approach, the Kelly team has a depth of paper knowledge unmatched in the industry.

1936

Founder Art Kelly opens the doors to Kelly Paper Co., in downtown Los Angeles

1938

Long Beach branch of Kelly Paper opens

1955

Kelly Paper opens first cash-and-carry retail location in downtown Los Angeles, called Selfhelp Paper Co.

1973

Cash-and-carry concept expands to North Hollywood to serve San Fernando Valley customers.

1981

Kelly Paper opens 12th retail store, with locations throughout Los Angeles, Orange County and Ventura.

1985

Retail stores re-named Kelly Paper, including a re-branding around customer service and growth.

1994

Kelly Paper grows to 21 stores in Southern California, and opens locations in Las Vegas, Sacramento and Arizona, totally 25 stores.

2006

The retail store model expands into the Pacific Northwest, with locations in Portland and Seattle.

2011

Kelly Paper celebrates 75 years in business

2012

Kelly Paper, along with sister company Spicers Paper, acquired by Central National-Gottesman.

2014

Kelly Paper expands its digital offerings with more than 1,700 different products for use in the growing digital print industry.

2016

Kelly Paper celebrates 80 years serving the West!

2017

Redesigned Digital Paper packaging hits the stores as Kelly ramps up its digital and wide format business.

2018

Kelly’s Why Wait? campaign launches touting convenience of our Kelly Paper stores throughout the West

2019

Kelly becomes an official dealer of HP Latex Wide Format printers, inks and media
